Visit website

2025

This website showcases their creative work and portfolio. The site needed to be both visually engaging and functional, allowing visitors to easily browse through their projects and understand their creative process and skillset.

Originally, William designed an infinite canvas for exploring the projects, with a tab bar allowing visitors to filter by project type. (See below)

However, when I initially tested the implementation of the design, it didn't have the best experience. Combining an infinite grid that can be navigated by dragging with modals gave us some unwanted behaviours, so we decided to develop a more structured grid layout to accompany the tab bar.

When developing the tab bar, I kept in mind different possible use cases – mouse, trackpad, and touchscreen. Any interaction with the bar is isolated and does not affect the page at large.

Reflections

The website successfully balances visual appeal with usability, creating an engaging experience for visitors exploring their portfolio.

The filtering system allows users to easily navigate through different types of work, making the portfolio more accessible and organized.

However, the current architecture isn't scalable. All projects are hosted on the frontend, making it difficult for the pair to update their filmography at a future date. If they would be open to working together again, I would migrate all the projects to a CMS, which would greatly decrease the friction for them to update the website on their own.

That being said, I'm proud of this version of the project, and I'm excited to see them grow as filmmakers.
